1 Overview
1.1 The Drawing Rules is formulated with a view to standardizing the use of steel structure construction drawing design method based on joint parameters and to ensuring the quality of design, fabrication, processing and construction.
This Atlas is the national building standard design atlas for preparation of steel structure design & construction drawings based on joint parameter representation method.
1.2 Design basis
Code for Design of Steel Structures GB 50017-2003
Code for Seismic Design of Buildings (including Partial Revision in 2008) GB 50011-2001
Technical Specification for Steel Structure of High-rise Civil Buildings JCJ 99-98
Standard for Structural Drawings GB/T 50105-2001
Technical Specification for Welding of Steel Structure of Building JGJ 81-2002
1.3 Application scope. This Atlas is applicable to the design of steel structure construction drawing for the multi-storey and high-rise buildings with non-seismic design as well as the multi-storey and high-rise buildings which are located in the regions with seismic fortification intensity of Intensity 6~9, generally are with multi-storey and high-rise steel structure and containing steel frame and steel support (excluding Category A buildings).
1.4 Materials. The structural steels and connecting materials adopted and their technical requirements shall meet those specified in Sections 3.3 and 3.4 of "Code for Design of Steel Structures" (GB 50017-2003), Articles 2.0.1~2.0.9 of "Technical Specification for Steel Structure of High-rise Civil Buildings" (JGJ 99-98) and Articles 3.9.2~3.9.5 of "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings" (GB 50011-2001).
1.5 Main contents of this Atlas. This Atlas includes four parts, i.e., the drawing rules based on joint parameter representation method, the layout plan and elevation layout, the common joint selection drawings and the weld legends for three kinds of common members (steel structural columns, beams and supports) and their connection joints. Therein, the joint selection drawings mainly consist of joint application scope, joint drawing and joint parameter list (including thickness list of steel plates at joints).
As for other members and connection joints, the relevant contents will be supplemented in the subsequently published atlases.
1.6 In this Atlas, the section types of members are as follows:
Steel column - H-shaped section and box section;
Steel beam - H-shaped section;
Steel support - H-shaped section.
In this Atlas, the joint type is rigid welded joint.
1.7 The drawing rules stated in this Atlas not only are the basis for designers to complete the parameter method-based construction drawings of steel columns, steel beams and steel supports, but also are the basis for manufacturing, construction and supervision personnel to exactly comprehend and implement the joint parameter method-based construction drawings.
1.8 The joint selection drawings in this Atlas have been incorporated into the current common and relatively mature joint construction practices in China, and are the formal design documents which must be used in conjunction with the parameter method-based construction drawings by the manufacture and construction personnel.
1.9 The seismic and non-seismic structures not covered as well as other unaccomplished matters in the drawing rules and joint selection drawings of this Atlas shall be separately designed by designers in specific design and may also be designed by making reference to the current national standard atlas "Joint Construction Details for Steel Structures of Multi-storey and High-rise Civil Buildings" (SG519 series).
1.10 If concrete structure exists in the structural layout plan, the expression of this part shall comply with the current national standard atlas "Drawing Rules and Construction Details Based on Plane Integration Expression Method for Concrete Structure Construction Drawings" (G101 series).
1.11 When applying the drawing rules stated in this Atlas, the user not only shall comply with the relevant requirements of this Atlas, but also shall conform to the current relevant codes, regulations and standards of the nation.
1.12 In this Atlas, dimensions are expressed in millimetres (mm) and elevations in meters (m).
