Article 1.0.1 This code is prepared for the purpose of adapting to the automated and stereoscopic development of warehousing system in China and providing a basis for the design of steel storage rack structure.
Article 1.0.2 This code is applicable to assembled rack, integral rack and warehouse-rack united rack made of cold-formed steel or hot rolled section steel but not applicable to racks made of other materials.
Article 1.0.3 Assembled rack refers to the removable rack that is separated from building and whose crossbeam and upright column are connected via mechanical locking device. Integral rack refers to the fixed rack that is separated from building and whose structural members are connected by welding or bolting. Warehouse-rack united rack refers to the fixed rack that is also used as the loadbearing structure of building; besides bearing the load of goods, such rack is also used as the frame supporting roof and wall surface enclosing structure of warehouse.
Article 1.0.4 When designing rack structure, factors such as service requirements, equipment status, load nature, material supply as well as fabrication & installation conditions shall be considered comprehensively; material, structural style and construction measures shall be selected reasonably; requirements including technical advancement, economy & rationality, safety & serviceability and guaranteed quality shall be met.
Article 1.0.5 This code complies with the basic principles of GBJ 68-84 Unified Standards for the Design of Structures and the requirements of GBJ 83-85 Design of Structures - General Symbols, Units of Measurement and Basic Terms.
Article 1.0.6 In addition to those specified in this code, the structural design of steel storage racks shall also meet the requirements of GBJ 9-87 Specifications for Loads of Architectural Structures, GBJ 18-87 Technical Specifications for Cold Shaped Thin-walled Steel Section Structures, GBJ 17-88 Specifications for the Design of Steel Structures, the current standard Code for Acceptance of Construction of Steel Structures and the like.
Chapter 2 Materials
Article 2.0.1 As for the steel for the loadbearing structure of steel storage rack, the steel grade and material are selected according to specific conditions such as its importance, load characteristics, connection method and service environment.
Generally, the steels of loadbearing structure should be Q235 steel specified in GB700-88 Carbon Structural Steels and 16 manganese steel specified in GB 1591-88 Low-alloy Structural Steel. When reliable reference is available, other steel grades may be adopted.
Article 2.0.2 For the loadbearing structure of steel storage rack with working temperature lower than or equal to -20℃, Q235A and Q235B rimmed steels should not be adopted.
Article 2.0.3 The steel for loadbearing structure shall be provided with qualification guarantees on tensile strength, elongation, yield point (or yield strength) and sulfur and phosphorus contents; for welded structure, the qualification guarantee on carbon content shall be provided; for cold-formed steel, the qualification guarantee on cold bend test shall be provided.
Article 2.0.4 The connecting materials for steel storage rack structure shall meet the following requirements:
I. Electrodes for manual welding shall meet the requirements of the current standards Carbon Steel Covered Electrodes and Low Alloy Steel Covered Electrodes. The model of adopted electrode shall be matched with the strength of base metal.
II. The welding wire for automatic welding and semiautomatic welding shall meet the requirements of the current standard Steel Wires for Welding. The adopted welding wire and flux shall be matched with the base metal in terms of strength.
III. As for gas shielded welding, alloy steel welding wire containing high deoxidation elements such as manganese and silicon and complying with the current standard Steel Wires for Welding shall be adopted.
IV. Ordinary bolt should be made of Q235 steel specified in GB 700-88 Carbon Structural Steels.
V. The high strength bolt shall meet the requirements of the current standards Type Dimensions and Specifications for High Strength Bolts with Large Hexagon Head, Large Hexagon Nuts, Plain Washers for Steel Structures or Type Dimensions and Specifications for Sets of Torshear Type High Strength Bolt Hexagon Nut and Plain Washer for Steel Structures.
VI. Anchor bolt may be made of Q235 steel specified in GB 700-88 Carbon Structural Steels and 16 manganese steel specified in GB 1591-88 Low-alloy Structural Steel.
