This standard specifies the artificial icing flashover test method on insulators of various lines and stations used in outdoor environment in ±1100kV or below DC system. The porcelain with surface coated with anti-pollution flashover coating, glass insulator or insulators equipped with auxiliary umbrella skirt may be implemented by reference to this standard.
This standard includes the icing flashover test method of energized and non-energized insulator strings.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 Icing
Refers to the ice layer, ice pillar, icicle, etc. formed on insulator surface.
3.2 Unit test
Refers to the single process that the test piece with specified pollution severity passes through the icing process and specified DC test voltage is applied to this process for specified period or till flashover occurs.
3.3 Conductivity of icing water
