This standard specifies the test method for tensile property of plastic film and sheet material.
This standard is applicable to plastic film and sheet material with thickness less than 1mm while not applicable to strengthened film, micro-porous sheet material and membrane.

3 Test Equipment
3.1 Any test machine that may be used for tensile test and be able to meet 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4 may be used.
3.2 The test machine shall be equipped with proper clamp which shall not lead to breakage of specimen at clamp. During applying any load, the clamps on test machine shall be able to be aligned in a line immediately to make the long axis of the specimen overlap with the stretching direction passing through center line of clamp.
3.3 The movement speed of test clamp shall meet the specified requirements.
3.4 The indicated value of test machine is 10~90% the full value of recorder (or full scale of each grade of dial), and indication error shall be within ±1%.
3.5 The instrument for measuring thickness shall meet the requirements of GB 6672.
4 Specimen
4.1 Shape and dimension of specimen
This method specifies that four types of specimens are used, among which Types I, II and III are dumb-bell shape. See Figures 1~3. Type IV is strip specimen, with width of 10~25mm, total length not less than 150mm and gauge length at least 50mm.
