This standard specifies technical requirements, inspection rules and marking of professional safety helmets.
This standard is applicable to generally-used safety helmets in work. The additional special technical performance is only applicable to corresponding special locations.
This standard is not applicable to big lip cap, cloth cap, motor helmet, anti-violence helmet, sports helmet, straw cap, ordinary cotton cap, military equipment, etc.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
Safety helmet
A cap which has a protection against harm arising from human head falling object and from other specific factors and consists of shell, harness, chin strap and accessories.
3.2
Shell
A part of external surface of safety helmet, which consists of peak, brim and top reinforcement.
3.3
Peak
A part which protrudes from the shell front.
3.4
Brim
Other protruded part around shell except peak on the shell.
3.5
Top reinforcement
Structure which is used for reinforcing the strength of shell top.
3.6
Harness
It is the generic term of parts in shell and consists of headband, sweatband, inner cushion, liner strip, etc.
3.7
Headband
Belt ring that winds the head circumference to fix, including the structure for adjusting the size of the belt ring.
3.8
Sweatband
Sweat absorbent material which is attached to the headband.
3.9
Inner cushion
Part which is arranged between headband and shell for absorbing impact energy.
3.10
Liner strip
Strip which directly contacts with top.
3.11
Chin strap
Strip which is tied to the chin with auxiliary fixing function and consists of belt and lock.
3.12
Lock
Spare part which is used for adjusting and fixing the effective length of belt.
3.13
Horizontal distance
Radial distance between headband and shell inside in a horizontal plane when wearing safety helmet.
3.14
Vertical distance
Axial distance (excluding the space of top reinforcement) between top pick and shell's internal surface when wearing safety helmet.
3.15
Wearing height
Axial distance from the headband bottom to the top peak when wearing safety helmet.
3.16
Headform
Phantom head model which is used for testing safety helmet.
3.17
Vent
Vent which is arranged on the shell.
3.18
Accessories
Devices which are attached to safety helmet, including eye and face protection devices, ear protection devices, initiative temperature drop devices, electric induction devices, neck protection devices, lighting devices, warning signs, etc.
3.19
Joint
Connection structure between shell and harness, including splicing, tying, riveting, trailing, bolting, etc.
4 Technical Requirements
4.1 General requirements
4.1.1 Headband may be adjusted according to the applicable head girth dimension clearly expressed in the safety helmet marking.
4.1.2 The area of headband where corresponding to forehead shall be provided with sweat absorbent textile or be added with sweatband, and the width of the sweatband shall be larger than or equal to that of the headband.
4.1.3 The belt shall adopt soft textile, such as strip with width not less than 10mm or rope with diameter not less than 5mm.
4.1.4 The toxic and harmful materials as well as those causing human harm such as skin sensitization shall not be used.
4.1.5 The aging resistance of the materials shall not be less than the date clearly expressed in the product identification; the performance of safety helmet in normal service shall not be less than the requirements of this standard due to material cause within the service period. All used materials shall be provided with corresponding expected life.
4.1.6 Where safety helmet is equipped with accessories, its stability during normal wearing shall be guaranteed. The safety helmet shall be free from affecting the normal protection function of the safety helmet.
4.1.7 Mass: shall not exceed 430g for ordinary safety helmet and shall not exceed 600g for cold-proof safety helmet.
