This standard specifies the general safety requirements for outdoor leisure furniture, i.e., seating and tables, for camping, domestic and contract use as well as the mechanical safety requirements and test methods of outdoor seating and tables for camping, domestic and contract use for adults.
This standard is applicable to outdoor leisure furniture, i.e., seating and tables, for camping, domestic and contract use.
This standard does not include materials design/construction or manufacturing processes.
It does not apply to the frequently used outdoor furniture for contract use, removable upholstery, coverings and permanently fixed furniture and street furniture.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

parts to which access can be easily gained when the furniture is in its intended configuration of use and for which unintentional contact is foreseeable

automatic locking mechanism
mechanism which engages automatically and prevents unintended movement
3.3
shear and squeeze point
shear and squeeze points exist if the distance between two parts moving relative to each other is less than 18mm and more than 7mm in any position during movement

outdoor leisure furniture for contract use
outdoor furniture intended for non-private use in places with public access, such as restaurants, open-air swimming pools, beaches, vocational and leisure sites
3.5
outdoor leisure furniture for domestic use
outdoor furniture intended for private use in places use without public access such as gardens, winter gardens, balconies and terraces
