2.1 Terms
2.1.1 Slipforming construction
A general construction method that the slipform (or sliding frame) driven by slipform jack, motor hoist or hand lifter slides along the concrete (or slipform) surface to form the cast-in-place concrete structure.
2.1.2 Incremental slipforming with sliding frame
A general construction method of concrete structure developed form the traditional slipforming process. A "sliding frame", composed by lift yoke, form waler and sliding track, slides along the outer surface of slipform (no relative sliding between the slipform and the concrete) driven by a hoist. When the slipform composed by transverse blocks slides out from the lower port of "sliding frame", it should be taken down and reloaded on the upper port of "sliding frame"; re-pour concrete and lift the sliding frame; the concrete structure is formed by repeating the operations.
2.1.3 Slipform
A slipform is fixed on the form walers to ensure the size of component section and the geometrical shape of structure. The slipform slides upward with lift yoke, directly contact with fresh concrete and bear the side pressure of fresh concrete and the frictional resistance during sliding.
2.1.4 Form walers
Form walers is the supporting member of slipform, also known as girt, to keep the geometrical shape of the slipform. The deadweight, borne frictional resistance and side pressure of the slipform as well as deadweight and construction load directly brought by the working-deck are transmitted to the post of lift yoke by form walers. Form walers generally consists an upper and a lower rod. In order to increase the rigidity of the form walers, a diagonal rod and vertical rod may be added between the upper and lower rods to form a truss-type form walers.
2.1.5 Lift yoke
It is the main loaded member of slipforming device to fix jack, form walers and keep the geometrical shape of the slipform, which directly bear all vertical loads of slipform, form walers and working-deck as well as the side pressure of concrete to the slipform.
2.1.6 Working-deck
