1.0.1 This Code was prepared with a view to reasonably designing water spray fire protection system (or abbreviated as system), guaranteeing its construction quality and use function, reducing fire hazard and protecting personal and property safety.
1.0.2 This Code is applicable to design, construction, acceptance, maintenance and management of water spray fire protection system arranged in constructed, renovated and extended works.
This Code is not applicable to mobile water spray extinguishing device or water spray fire protection system arranged in transport facilities.
1.0.3 Water spray fire protection system can be used for extinguishing fires caused by solids, Category C liquid and alcoholic drink and electrical fire as well as for cooling protection of production and storage equipment or loading/unloading facilities for combustible gases and Classes A, B and C liquids.
1.0.4 Water spray fire protection system shall not be used for extinguishing the fire that will cause combustion and explosion via chemical reaction on meeting water as well as the fire where the water mist will cause severe damages to the protected object.
1.0.5 Design, construction, acceptance, maintenance and management of water spray extinguishing system shall not only comply with those specified in this Code but also comply with those in the national current relevant standards.
2 Terms and Symbols
2.1 Terms
2.1.1 Water spray fire protection system
The system comprising of water source, water supply equipment, piping, deluge alarm valves (or electric control valve, pneumatic control valve), filter and spray nozzle etc. for extinguishment or cooling protection by spraying water toward the protected object.
2.1.2 Transfer pipe
The pipe detecting fire by using closed nozzle and transmitting signals by using the variations in air pressure or hydraulic pressure.
2.1.3 Application density
Water volume that the system sprays to unit protected area in unit time.
2.1.4 Response time
The time from starting system water facilities to the water spray of the spray nozzle at the most unfavorable point of the system.
2.1.5 Spray nozzle
The spray nozzle which can break up the water current into water drops at the diameter of 1mm below and spray them in the designed spray shape within the set area under certain pressure.
2.1.6 Effective range
The horizontal distance between the peak point that the water spray reaches and the plane of the spray nozzle vertical to spray nozzle spray nozzle axial line when spray nozzle sprays horizontally
2.1.7 Water spray cone
The cone formed by water mist within the effective range of spray nozzle
2.1.8 Deluge alarm valves unit
The device comprising of deluge alarm valve, solenoid valve, pressure switch, hydraulic alarm bell, pressure gauge and supporting universal valves.
