1.0.1 This code is developed to prevent and reduce accidents and occupational hazards in the construction and operation processes of waterless gasholder, and to protect people's lives and properties and the environment, and promote the technological advancement of waterless gasholder industry.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to safety requirements for design, construction and operation management of waterless gasholder in industrial enterprises with the working gauge gas pressure less than 20 kPa and effective capacity up to 600000 m3 for storing manufactured gases from producer, blast furnace, coke furnace, converter and ferroalloy, and natural combustible gases with methane as the main combustible component such as natural gas, coal bed methane (CBM) and coal mine methane (CMM).
1.0.3 The safety requirements for design, construction and operation management of waterless gasholder in industrial enterprises shall comply with the provisions of this code and also with current relevant national standards.
2 Terms
2.0.1
waterless gasholder (dry type gasholder)
waterless gasholder, also called “dry type gasholder”, is an on-site gas storage equipment, the sealing form of which is non water type, in contrast with wet type gasholder that uses water as the sealing medium, and the gas storage pressure is generated by the dead weight of the piston steel structure, seal device, guide roller and piston counterweight. At present, it is classified into three types in China—piston, oil seal, polygonal shell type and piston, oil seal, cylindrical shell type (collectively referred to as “oil seal type” in this code) and piston, rubber membrane seal, cylindrical shell type.
2.0.2
piston, oil seal, polygonal shell type gasholder (P.O.P. or polygonal gasholder)
a waterless gasholder which has a regular polygonal shape and adopts piston sealing method with thin oil and steel slide seal device, also known as P.O.P. gasholder and hereinafter referred to as polygonal gasholder
2.0.3
piston, oil seal, cylindrical shell type gasholder (P.O.C. or cylindrical gasholder)
a waterless gasholder which has a cylindrical shape and adopts piston sealing method with thin oil and rubber strip seal device, also known as P.O.C. gasholder and hereinafter referred to as cylindrical gasholder
2.0.4
piston, rubber membrane seal, cylindrical shell type gasholder (P.R.C. or membrane seal gasholder)
a waterless gasholder which has a cylindrical shape and piston structure with special rubber membrane, and adopts rubber membrane for sealing gas, also known as cloth curtain, membrane, roller curtain or rubber membrane seal gasholder, and hereinafter referred to as “membrane seal gasholder”)
2.0.5
gas pressure
the gas storage pressure generated by the deadweight of the waterless gasholder piston structure (including the counterweight). For two-stage membrane seal gasholders, the gas pressures when the piston is raised in one stage and in the second stage shall be indicated.
2.0.6
effective capacity
the geometric volume of gas that can be stored by waterless gasholder over the period for the piston to reach emergency release from landing
2.0.7
piston inclination
the maximum measured value of the relative height difference between the two ends of the piston diameter, indicating the piston offset from its reference plane during operation
2. 0.8
gasholder proper
composed of the facilities within a range about 3m around the periphery of the waterless gasholder cylinder, such as gasholder base, bottom oil trough, side plates, column, gallery, piston structure, seal device, gasholder roof structure, gasholder level gauge, supply system and external lift of oil seal type gasholder
