This standard specifies the designations and codes, technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules of casting aluminium alloys.
This standard is applicable to the casting aluminium alloys for use of aluminium alloy castings (excluding die castings).

3 Alloy Designations and Codes
3.1 Alloy designations
The designation of casting aluminium alloys is made in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 8063.
3.2 Alloy codes
The alloy codes in this standard are composed of the Chinese phonetic alphabets "ZL" representing "Zhulv" (casting aluminium) and three subsequent Arabic numbers. The number right after ZL represents for the series of the alloy, where 1, 2, 3 and 4 stand for aluminium-silicon, aluminium-bronze, aluminium-magnesium and aluminium-zinc series respectively. The second and the third numbers after ZL are the sequence number of the alloy.
High quality alloys are indicated with a letter "A" suffixed to its code.
