This standard specifies the representation and test methods of Shore and Leeb hardness of roll, the requirements of test apparatus, tested roll, data processing and test report as well as the hardness conversion table.
This standard is applicable to the determination for Shore and Leeb hardness of various forged steel, cast steel and cast iron rolls.

3 Test Principle
3.1 Shore hardness test principle
The diamond punch pin with specific shape and mass drops from a fixed height of h0 to the specimen surface, and the punch pin rebounds for a certain height of h; the ratio of h to h0 is namely the shore hardness number. The calculation formula is shown as Formula (1):
