This standard specifies basic requirements for safe use of electricity at different stages in the full life cycle of electrical equipment such as design, manufacturing, installation, use and maintenance, general principles for safe use of electricity in special locations and under environment conditions, and specific requirements for persons.
This standard is applicable to various electrical equipment and electrical installations with rated AC voltage of 1 000 V or below, or DC voltage of 1 500 V or below.
2 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.

product or component that is suitable for electric energy application in terms of function and structure, including products related to power generation, transmission, distribution, storage, measurement, control, regulation, conversion, supervision, protection and consumption, as well as electrical equipment, electrical installation and electrical appliance in the communication technology field and those assembled by the aforesaid ones
