The evaluation methods of surface contamination for beta-emitters (maximum beta energy greater than 0.15 MeV) and alpha-emitters are specified in this Part of GB/T 1405.
This Part is applicable to the evaluation of surface contamination (represented by activity per unit area) of devices, facilities, containers of radioactive materials and sealed sources.
This Part is limited to the beta-emitters and alpha-emitters in accordance with the following requirements:
a) The particle generation rates of beta particles with monoenergetic electrons are approximately 100 particles every 100 decays.
b) The particle generation rates of alpha particles are approximate 100 particles every 100 decays.
The beta-emitters are detailed in Table A.3 of Annex A.
This Part is not applicable to the contamination evaluation of skins and work clothes.
