This standard specifies the testing methods for defect of man-made staple fibres: raw cotton analyzer method (Method A) and hand picking method (Method B), the former of which shall be adopted in case of any dispute; it also specifies the testing method for oiled yellowish fibre.
This standard is applicable to the defect content determination for man-made staple fibres made of polyester (dacron), polyamide (nylon), polyacrylonitrile (acrylon), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl formal (vinylon) and cellulose.
