This standard specifies the terms and definitions, test apparatus, sample preparation, test conditions, test procedures, expression of test results and test reports for the combustion heat release test of building materials.
This standard is applicable to the measurement of mass loss per unit area and the combustion heat released by flat building materials that do not produce burning droplets.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given GB/T 5907 and GB/T 14107 and the following apply.
3.1
net heat of combustion
heat released by the unit mass of material when it is completely burned, the water in the combustion product (including the water vapor generated by the moisture contained in the material and the water vapor generated when the hydrogen contained in the material composition is burned) still exists in a gaseous form, which numerically equal to the difference between the total calorific value and the latent heat of gasification released by the vapor generated by the combustion of the material when it condenses into water in an oxygen bomb, in megajoules per kilogram (MJ/kg)
3.2
mass loss per unit area
mass loss per unit area of the sample under the test conditions specified in this standard, in kilograms per square meter (kg/m2).
