This standard specifies such contents of 128 bar code in GS1 system (hereinafter referred to as GS1-128 Bar Code) as structure, code set, dimension of bar code symbol, quality assurance as well as application parameter, Element String encoding and decoding rules.
It is applicable to automatic identification and data collection in bar code system for commodity.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions specified in GB 12904 and GB/T 12905 apply.
4 Requirements
4.1 Structure of the Bar Code Symbol
The GS1-128 Bar Code is made up as follows, reading from left to right.
a) Left Quiet Zone;
b) The Start Pattern of Double Character is: A Start Character (A, B, or C) + The Function 1 Symbol Character (FNC1)
c) One or more bar code characters representing data and special character (including the Application Identifier);
d) A Symbol Check Character;
e) The Stop Character;
f) Right Quiet Zone
The data characters represented in the symbol are shown in Human Readable Interpretation underneath or above the symbol.
Figure 1 specifies the general format of a GS1-128 Bar Code.
