This standard specifies the terminologies and definitions, general requirements, requirements, test methods, test rules and packaging, marking transportation and storage of thermal insulation for use in contact with austenitic stainless steel (hereinafter referred to as "insulation").
This standard is applicable to fibrous insulation, including aluminum silicate wool, rock wool, mineral wool, glass wool and their products as well as other insulation, such as calcium silicate, compound silicate, foam asbestos, foamed plastic and foamed rubber/plastics.
This standard is not intended to put forward all safety problems related to the application of this standard. Users of this standard are responsible for establishing appropriate safety and sound rules and deciding whether relevant regulatory limitations shall be taken prior to application.
