This standard specifies the requirements and rules for detecting susceptibility to intergranular corrosion in stainless steel pressure vessels.
1.1 This standard is applicable to stainless steel pressure vessels which including the stainless steel stationary pressure vessels, heat exchangers cylinders, transportable pressure vessels and pressure pipelines etc. The stainless steel ordinary pressure vessels and other stainless steel mechanical equipments may also adopt this standard by making reference (in this text, the "pressure vessel" is referred to as "vessel" sometimes).
1.2 In this standard, the applicable stainless steel used for manufacturing pressure vessels refers to acid-resistant steel, in which the chromium content is no less than 16%, including the austenitic stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel and duplex austenitic-ferritic stainless steel while excluding martensitic stainless steel and precipitation-hardening stainless steel. Not only including the press working stainless steel and its welded joints but also including the stainless cast steel and clad layer.
1.3 This standard not only specifies the requirements for detecting susceptibility to intergranular corrosion in stainless steel pressure vessels themselves, but also specifies corresponding detection requirements for stainless steel raw materials, welding materials and outsourced parts used for manufacturing the stainless steel pressure vessels.
1.4 The intergranular corrosion involved in this standard refers to sensitized intergranular corrosion. The non-sensitized intergranular corrosion is not included.
