This standard specifies principle, apparatus, specimen preparation, test procedures and result calculation for determination of the ash content of coking solid products.
This standard is applicable to determination of the ash content of coking solid products machined from high-temperature coal tar.
Note: coking solid products include coal tar pitch, modified coal tar pitch, refined naphthalene, industrial naphthalene, pressed naphthalene and solid coumarone - indene resin.

3 Principle
Weigh out a certain amount of specimens of coking solid products, heat them over soft fire to get rid of most of the volatile matters, and place them in 900℃±10℃ muffle furnace where they are incinerated to constant weight. The percentage of the mass of residues accounting for the mass of specimens is regarded as ash content.
