This standard specifies the general principles for naming of mono-constituent substances, multi-constituent substances and UVCB substances.
This standard is applicable to the naming of mono-constituent substances, multi-constituent substances and UVCB substances in REACH regulatory framework.
2 Terms and Definitions
For the purpose of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
2.1
Additive
A substance that has been intentionally added to stabilize the substance.
Note: In other areas, an additive may also have other functions, e.g. pH-regulator or coloring agent.
2.2
Component
Substance intentionally added to form a preparation.
2.3
Constituent
Any single species present in a substance that can be characterized by its unique chemical identity.
2.4
EC Inventory
The three European lists of substances from the previous EU chemicals regulatory framework, EINECS, ELINCS and the NLP-list, in combination are called the EC Inventory.
Note: The EC Inventory is the source for the EC Number as an identifier of substances.
