This part is applicable to the standard formulation and reversion, technical document compilation, preparation and translation of professional technology information and teaching material or books and periodicals and is used by the personnel in relevant departments regarding the scientific research, design, production, application, teaching and publication, etc. in electrician specialty.

scalar quantity
quantity of single real number or complex number

Note: In the three-dimensional space with definable sense of direction, the term "scalar quantity" is generally limited to the quantity irrelevant to direction.

vector quantity
quantity which can be represented as an element of a set, in which both the product of any element and either any real or any complex number and also the sum of any two elements are elements of the set

Note 1: A vector quantity in an n-dimensional space is characterized by an ordered set of n real or complex numbers, which depend on the choice of the n base vectors if n is greater than 1.
Note 2: For a real two- or three-dimensional space, a vector quantity can be represented as an oriented line segment characterized by its direction and length.
Note 3: A complex vector quantity is defined by a real part and an imaginary part: where and are real vector quantities.
