This standard specifies safety requirements, test methods and inspection rules for traction battery (hereinafter referred to as battery) of electric vehicles.
This standard is applicable to secondary cell and module of lithium-ion battery and nickel-metal hydride battery on electric vehicles, which is for reference for other types of battery.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purpose of this document, the terms and definitions defined in GB/T 2900.41 and GB/T 19596 and the following ones apply.
3.1
Secondary cell
The basic unit device, consisting of electrode, diaphragm, electrolyte, case and terminal, which directly transforms chemical energy into electric energy and is designed to be rechargeable.
3.2
Battery module
The combined entity which combines more than one secondary cells in the mode of series connection, parallel connection or series-parallel connection, and is used as power supply with only a pair of anode and cathode output terminals.
