This standard specifies terms and definitions of launch vehicle (LV) in aspects of general purpose, overall purpose, trajectory, loads and dynamic characteristics, aerodynamics, aerodynamic heat, mechanical environment, thermal environment, electromagnetic environment, natural environment, structure system, separation system, engine, pressurization and feeding system, control system, measurement system, propellant utilization system, failure detection and processing system, escape system, power supply and distribution system, test, launch and control system, launch site and integration assembly, test and launch process flow.
This standard is applicable to development work, including design, production, test and launch, of launch vehicle (LV).
2 General Terms
2.1
rocket
flight vehicle containing propellant and flying by directly generating thrust per the principle of reaction
2.2
launch vehicle (LV)
rocket injecting payload to space orbit from the earth surface or the air
Note: Generally, launch vehicles (LVs) may be classified into small, medium, large and heavy launch vehicles according to scale, respectively with the low earth orbit (LEO) launch capability of 2t or below, 2t~20t, 20t~50t and 50t or above.
2.3
expendable launch vehicle
launch vehicle (LV) which can be used for only one time
2.4
reusable launch vehicle
launch vehicle (LV) which can be used for many times
Note: Generally, reusable launch vehicles may be classified into partially reusable launch vehicle and fully reusable launch vehicle.
2.5
responsive launch vehicle
launch vehicle (LV) being capable of fast responding orbital injection of payload in order to meet the demand of emergency launch task
2.6
air-launched vehicle
launch vehicle (LV) being launched based on air launch platform
2.7
sea-launched vehicle
launch vehicle (LV) being launched based on sea launch platform
2.9
