3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
electrical washing machine
the appliance driven by electric energy and washing the laundry by mechanical action
Notes:
1 Electrical washing machines may be classified as follows according to washing modes:
impeller washing machine——the washing machine that washes the laundry by means of continuous rotation or timed back-and-forth rotation of impeller with the laundry wholly or partially submerged in the washing water.
drum washing machine——the washing machine that washes the laundry by means of continuous rotation or timed back-and-forth rotation of the drum with the laundry partially submerged in water in the drum.
agitator washing machine——the washing machine that washes the laundry by means of reciprocating motion of agitator blade with the laundry wholly or partially submerged in the washing water.
double-drive washing machine——the washing machine that washes the laundry by means of rotation of impeller, or agitator blade and drum at set speed and speed ratio as driven by power in the same system with the laundry wholly or partially submerged in the washing water.
2 Electrical washing machines are classified as follows according to automation degrees and basic structures:
washing machine——the washing machine that needs manual switching among the functions of washing, rinsing and spinning.
