1.0.1 The Code is designed to normalize the area measurement for industrial and civilian construction engineering and unify measurement methods.
1.0.2 The Code is adequate for the area measurement of newly-built, extended or remodeled industrial and civilian construction engineering.
1.0.3 Construction area measurement shall follow scientific and rational principles.
1.0.4 Construction area measurement shall follow this code as well as be in compliance with current national standard specifications.
2. Terms

2.0.18 Canopy
Awnings on top of entrances of buildings for preventing the rain and the sun.
2.0.19 Basement
The room ground level is more than 1/2 of the net height of room lower than the outdoor ground level and it is called basement.
2.0.20 Semi-basement
The room ground level is more than 1/3 of the net height of room lower than the outdoor ground level and it is called semi-basement.
2.0.21 Deformation joint
A generic term of expansion joints (temperature joints), settlement joints and seismic joints.
2.0.22 Permanent cap
Caps permanently used after being planned or designed.
2.0.23 Bay window
Windows overhung external walls for illumination and beautification of the room.
2.0.24 Overhang
Frontage buildings with floors riding astride the sidewalks.
2.0.25 Arcade
Buildings with roads crossing enclosed space.
3. Regulations on Construction Measurement
3.0.1 The construction area of monolayer construction shall be calculated according to the periphery horizontal area of the structure on top of plinth of external walls and be in compliance with the following provisions:
1. Monolayer buildings with a height of 2.20m or more shall be calculated the gross area, while for those lower than 2.20m, they shall be calculated 1/2 area.
2. For the utilization of the space in the sloping house, parts higher than 2.10m shall be calculated the gross area, parts between 1.20m and 2.10m to be calculated 1/2 of the area and the net height is insufficient for 1.20m will be neglected.
3.0.2 If partial floors are set up in the monolayer building, the second floor and above of the partial floors will be calculated periphery horizontal area of the envelop enclosure if there is any and will be calculated the structural soleplate horizontal area if there is no envelop enclosure. If buildings with a story height of 2.20m or more shall be calculated the gross area, while for those lower than 2.20m, they shall be calculated 1/2 area.
3.0.3 For multistory structures, the first floor shall be calculated the periphery horizontal area of structure above plinth of the external wall and the second floor or higher shall be calculated the periphery horizontal area of the external wall. If buildings with a story height of 2 or more shall be calculated the gross area, gross area for those lower than 2, they shall be calculated 1.2 area.
3.0.4 If the sloping roof of multi-layer buildings and the bleachers of halls of such buildings are designed and the net height exceeds 2.10m, the part shall be calculated the gross area; parts between 1.20m and 2.10m shall be calculated 1/2 of the area and if the part is not utilized or the ceiling height is less than 1.20m, the area shall be neglected.
