"General Terminology for Ship" (GB/T 7727) is divided into the following five parts:
- Part 1: Comprehension;
- Part 2: General Design;
- Part 3: Performance;
- Part 4: Structure, Strength and Vibration;
- Part 5: Ship Environment.
This part is Part 1 of GB/T 7727.
This part supersedes "General Terminology for Ships - Comprehension" (GB/T 7727.1-1987).
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 7727 specifies the general terminologies and their definitions for ship and ship type. See Appendix A for the convention, rules, certificates and other terminologies and definitions related to ships.
This part is applicable to the research, design, manufacture, teaching, management and other applicable fields of ships.
2 General Ships
2.1
Ship, vessel
Steamer (replaced)
The structure capable of navigating and parking at water area as well as undertaking delivery, fighting, operation and scientific research, etc.
2.2
Boat, craft
Small ship. But submarine, no matter the magnitude of discharge, refers to boat.
2.3
Raft
Simple and light floating tool made by some materials by simple connection or air inflation used for delivery, operation or lifesaving.
2.4
Naval ship
War ship (replaced)
The ship used for all kinds of military purposes, e.g. implementing operational mission or other military services.
2.5
Civil ship
Civilian vessel (replaced)
Merchant vessel (replaced)
The ship used for all kinds of unmilitary purposes, e.g. delivery, operation and scientific research.
2.6
Transport ship
The ship undertaking in delivery operation.
2.7
Working ship
The ship equipped with corresponding professional equipment according to different requirements and undertaking all kinds of water and underwater engineering technology operations.
