This document specifies the terms and definitions, boundary conditions, test environmental conditions and test preparation of test method for typical vehicle operating conditions of membrane electrode assembly (MEA) used in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC), as well as tests and test reports on adaptability to operating conditions of MEA used in PEMFC.
This document is applicable to membrane electrode assemblies that meet the performance requirements proposed by the tested party. Single cells with an active area of 5 cm×5 cm shall be used for testing to evaluate the adaptability of membrane electrode assembly (MEA) to typical operating conditions of fuel cells, but the corresponding relationship between the life under accelerated test and actual life is not considered.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 20042.1, GB/T 24548-2009 and the following apply.
3.1
operating condition
operating state of the fuel cell, the operating state referred in this document corresponds to the operating state of the vehicle
3.2
typical condition
main operating state of the fuel cell during operation, including open circuit condition, rated condition, idle condition and overload condition
3.3
open circuit condition
operating state of the fuel cell when no load is applied
3.4
rated condition
operating state specified by the sending party, in which the fuel may operate continuously for a long time
3.5
rated power
net output power of fuel cell under rated condition
3.6
idle condition
state in which the fuel cell is in an operating state, while the net output power of the fuel cell system is zero, that is, the operating state that the fuel cell system only supplies power to itself but not to the outside of the system
3.7
overload condition
operating state when the net output power of the fuel cell specified by the sending party is greater than the rated power
3.8
idle-rated cycle condition
state that the fuel cell operates alternately and cyclically between idle and rated conditions
3.9
idle-overloading cycle condition
state that the fuel cell operates alternately and cyclically between idle and overload conditions
