1.0.1 The personnel protection emergency systems in the chemical plant and petrochemical plant include safe spray eyewash, protective mask, emergency oxygen respiratory system, special medicament, mechanical damage safeguard etc. This regulation only applies to the setting of the safe eyewash sprayer and eyewash equipment.
1.0.2 The personnel protection emergency measures shall be taken like setting the emergency spray eyewash (the so-called safe spray eyewash) if the chemical plant installations involves chemicals that burn or corrode human body, stimulate or penetrate human skin (including the mucosa and eyes), and tend to be absorbed by the human skin to harm the internal organ and tissue (the so-called toxic chemicals).
1.0.3 Setting place and position
1.0.3.1 The distance between the setting position of the safe spray eyewash and the potential accident point is related to the toxicity, corrosivity and temperature of the chemicals in use or production. The setting position and related requirements are generally put forward by production technology.
(1) The safe spray eyewashes shall be set every 20 ~30 m near the handling, storing and analytical sampling points in the production and utilization area of the general toxic and mordant chemicals.
(2) The safe spray eyewashes shall be set 3~6m (not be less than 3m) to the potential accident point (or dangerous zone) near the handling, storing and analytical sampling points in the production and utilization area of the virulent, highly corrosive chemicals or these whose temperature is over 70℃ as well as acidic or alkaline materials.
1.0.3.2 In the chemical analysis test room, the safe spray eyewashes shall be set in the post for the working people who will frequently use the toxic and corrosive reagents likely to harm human body.
1.0.3.3 The safe spray eyewashes shall be set near the charge room for the battery jar.
1.0.3.4 The safe spray eyewashes shall be set on the unobstructed passage, so they are often set in the same axial line or near the exit in the multi-storey factory buildings.
