This standard specifies the terms, test principle, test machine, sample preparation, test method, data processing, value rounding-off, test record and report for the contact fatigue test of rolling bearing material.
This standard is applicable to the determination of contact fatigue performance of rolling bearing material.
2 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.

Contact stress

Stress generated by the mutual pressure concentrating on local contact area between objects in contacting.
2.2
Contact fatigue
The process during which the local contact area of sample has fatigue cracks under the action of cyclic contact stress and the contact surface, shallow layer or deep layer has fatigue flake after a certain number of cycle times.
2.3
Contact fatigue life

Number of stress cycles borne by the sample when it has contact fatigue flake and failure under the action of cyclic contact stress.
