This standard specifies the coulombic method for the determination of carbon content in iron-chromium-aluminium alloys.
This standard is applicable to the determination of carbon content in iron-chromium-aluminium alloys, and the determination range is from 0.01% to 0.20%.
2 Method Summary
The test portion will produce carbon dioxide by burning at high temperature in oxygen stream, meanwhile, the produced gas will be sent into the barium perchlorate solution of the given pH value by using oxygen as the carrier gas, and here the pH value of the solution will change, and the absorption solution will be electrolyzed by the pulse current with constant electric quantity to restore to its original pH value. The pulse number shall be recorded with counter and this pulse number is proportional to the carbon content, thereby, the percentage content of carbon may be calculated.
