1.0.1 This code is prepared with a view to unifying the electrical design of medical buildings, implementing the national technical and economic policies and realizing safety and reliability, economy and rationality, energy conservation and environmental protection, advanced technology, and convenient maintenance and management.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to the electrical design of newly-built, extended and rebuilt medical buildings.
1.0.3 Technology and product complying with the current relevant national standards shall be selected for the electrical design of medical buildings; do not use those having been obsoleted in China.
1.0.4 The electrical design of medical buildings shall not only meet the requirements of this code, but also comply with those specified in the current relevant national standards.

2.1 Terms
2.1.1 Medical system
The structure and function of medical care.
2.1.2 Contact part
The part of medical electrical equipment which is required to or may touch the patient body during normal use.
2.1.3 Prospective touch voltage
The voltage between the body and the potentially touched conductive part where the human or animal has not touched the conductive part yet.
2.1.4 Conventional prospective touch voltage
The prospective touch voltage which is allowed to exist continuously without time limit under the specified external influence conditions.

3 Medical Location Classification
3.0.1 Medical locations shall be classified into the following three categories according to the electrical safety protection requirements:
1 Category 0: the medical location where the contact part of medical electrical equipment is not used;
2 Category 1: the medical location where the contact part of medical electrical equipment is required to touch the surface or inside of the patient body (except the parts stated in Category 2 medical location);
