1.0.1 This Specification was formulated with a view to normalizing the technical requirements of anti-corrosion design, construction, acceptance and maintenance of the building steel structure, guaranteeing the engineering quality, making them technology-advanced, safe and reliable and economically reasonable.
1.0.2 This Specification is applicable to the anti-corrosion design, construction, acceptance and maintenance of newly-built building steel structure in atmospheric environment.
1.0.3 The anti-corrosion design, construction, acceptance and maintenance of building steel structure shall not only comply with the requirements of this Specification, but also comply with those in the current relevant standards of the nation.

2.1 Terms
2.1.1 Corrosion rate
The value of corrosion effect of the structure member occurred in unit time
2.1.2 Atmospheric corrosion
Material damage caused due to the chemical and electrochemical action between the material and atmospheric environment medium.
2.1.3 Corrosion allowance
In the design of steel structure member, the corresponding thickness increased with the consideration of potential corrosive wear in operating period.
2.1.4 Coating
The process of coating paints on matrix surface to form coat with protection, finishing or specific functions.
2.1.5 Surface pretreatment
The measure taken for the matrix surface by mechanical method or chemical method before coating in order to improve the binding force and corrosion protection effect between coating and matrix to meet the coating requirements.
