1.0.1 This specification was specially compiled in purpose of make the wind-resistent design of bridges especially the large-span and soft bridge structures be safe, reliable, state-of-art technology, economic and feasible.
1.0.2 This specification is applicable to the stayed-cable bridges with main span less than 800m and the suspension bridges with main span less than 1500m, and the wind-resistent design of other types of bridge structures may also be implemented by making reference thereto.
1.0.3 The wind-resistent design shall comply with the following principles:
1 Within the working life of bridge design, the structure shall not occur with devastating self-excited diffused vibration when the area where the bridge site is appears with maximum wind speed.
2 With design wind loading and other actions, the structure shall be with specified strength and rigidity and shall not occur with static instability.
3 The amplitude of nondestructive wind-induced vibration of bridge structures shall meet the requirements on traffic safety, structural fatigue and traveling comfortableness.
4 The wind-resistent capacity of bridge structure may be improved through pneumatic measures, structural measures and machinery measures.
1.0.4 The tunnel test is one important method to carry out the wind-resistent design of bridge structure.
1.0.5 The wind-resistent design of highway bridge shall not only comply with this specification, but also shall comply with those specified in relevant national compulsory standards.
