3 Communication Office
3.1 General Requirements
3.1.1 The network configuration of 1ocal telephone network shall be constructed according to terminal office and junction office for the large harbor area in which the operation areas are dispersed, and shall be constructed according to the terminal office grade 1 for the small harbor area . Upon technical and economical comparison, the remote end module or the digital subscriber loop equipment may be set in the building that is relatively far away from the terminal office and has relatively concentrated subscribers.
The terminal office shall be able to independently process the call making and receiving of the subscribers in this office. The junction office shall be able to independently process the transit calls and also shall possess the functions of terminal office.
3.1.2 The layout of 1ocal telephone network for harbor shall be comprehensively considered according to the general layout and planning of this harbor, the distribution and transmission requirements of subscribers.
The junction office should be located near to those places where subscribers are relatively concentrated, like the private trunk board for transportation, the harbor-shipping units and institutions, and the terminal office shall be located in the operation area or the place with subscribers densely distributed.
