1.0.1 This code is formulated with a view to unifying technical requirements for seismic design of water transport engineering, implementing the prevention first policy and avoiding or relieving damage to water transport engineering building by earthquake and reducing economic loss.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to the seismic design of port maritime structures and navigation lock maritime structures with seismic precautionary intensity of degree 6, degree 7, degree 8 or degree 9, and may serve as reference for maritime structures such as ship lift and shipyard.
1.0.3 In case of seismic precautionary intensity of degree 6, seismic calculation may not be carried out, but proper seismic constructional measures shall be taken for buildings according to this code. For water transport engineering buildings with seismic precautionary intensity higher than degree 9, special demonstration shall be carried out for its seismic design. Generally, seismic design may not be carried out for temporary buildings.
1.0.4 As for water transport engineering buildings subject to seismic design according to this code, its seismic precaution target shall be as follows: when suffering seismic influence equivalent to local seismic precautionary intensity, it may be damaged but may still be used after general repair or without repair.
1.0.5 Generally, basic seismic intensity in Seismic Ground Motion Parameter Zonation Map of China shall be adopted as the seismic precautionary intensity of water transport engineering buildings. Seismic hazard analysis for site shall be carried out in areas with severe secondary disaster, extremely important water transport engineering buildings and high intensity; unless for LNG wharf and tank area revetment, when seismic precautionary intensity higher or lower than basic intensity is adopted, it shall be demonstrated and then submitted for approval.
1.0.6 The seismic design of water transport engineering shall comply with the requirements of this code and the current relevant ones of the nation.
