This standard specifies terms, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules as well as marking, packaging, transportation and storage of general gas spring for motor vehicles.
This standard is applicable for general gas spring with fixed travel of various specifications (hereinafter referred to as “gas spring”), and may be taken as reference to the gas spring for other machineries.

3.1 gas spring
the mechanism that is composed of a closed cylinder and a piston assembly as well as a piston rod which can slide in the cylinder and uses compressed gas as the medium of stored energy.
3.2 a cycle
the piston rod of gas spring moves to and fro for once in the stroke specified in the drawing
