This standard specifies the determination method for entrainment air separating ability of lubricating oils.
This standard is applicable to petroleum products such as steam turbine oils and hydraulic oils.
2 Definitions
Air release value: under condition specified in this standard, the time required for the volume of the entrainment air in test sample to be reduced to 0.2%, this time is bubble separating time and is indicated by minute (min).
3 Method Summary
Heat the test sample up to 25, 50 or 75℃; vigorous agitation may be produced by blowing excess compressed air in the test sample, the air will form minimum bubbles in the test sample i.e. the entrainment air. Stop blowing and record the time for the volume of the entrainment air in test sample to be reduced to 0.2%.
