This standard specifies the technical conditions, lab test process, field application conditions, selection principles and procedures for adding drag reduction agents in oil pipelines, as well as the operation requirements of pipelines, management of injection devices and safety guarantee measures.
This standard is applicable to oil pipelines that are used for the process operation of adding drag reduction agents.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
test loop
the pipeline system for testing the fluid flow of the drag reduction agents that meets the hydraulic requirements
3.2
drag reduction agent (DRA)
a chemical product that is used to reduce the friction resistance of turbulent flow in the pipeline fluid
3.3
drag reduction rate
a decrease degree of the friction pressure drop Δp1 when drag reduction agent is added compared with the friction pressure drop Δp0 when no drag reduction agent is added under the same conditions, which is expressed in %
3.4
flow increase rate
an increase degree of the flow rate Q1 when drag reduction agent is added compared with the flow rate Q0 when no drag reduction agent is added, which is expressed in %
