Article 1 In order to standardize gantry crane type tests and improve the quality of type tests, the Rule is prepared in accordance with "Code for hoisting machine type tests".
Article 2 The Rule is applicable to the type tests on the following gantry cranes: general-purpose gantry crane, electric hoist gantry crane, ship-building gantry crane, rail-mounted container gantry crane, quayside container gantry crane, hydropower station gantry crane, universal member assembled gantry crane, handling bridge (including grapple type ship unloader) and others.
Article 3 The following standards and codes are referenced in the technical indexes and requirements in the Rule:
(I) Design rules for cranes (GB/T 3811-1983);
(II) Safety rules for lifting appliances (GB 6067-1985);
(III) Cranes - Test code and procedures (GB/T 5905-1986);
(IV) Cranes - Overhead travelling cranes and portal cranes - Tolerances for cranes manufacture and tracks laying (GB 10183-1988);
(V) Gantry crane for general purpose (GB/T 14406-1993);
(VI) Test method for the quayside container cranes (GB/T 15360-1994);
(VII) Specifications of quayside container cranes (GB/T 15361-1994);
(XIII) Rubber tired transtainer - Specifications (GB/T 14783-1993);
(IX) Rubber tired transtainer - Test method (GB/T 15362-1994);
(X) Safety code for the bridge type grab ship unloader (GB 18224-2000);
(XI) Gantry crane with electric hoist (JB/T 5663.2-1991);
(XII) Gantry cranes for hydraulic power station (JB/T 6128-1992);
(XIII) Flexible composite underslung cranes (JB/T 10381-2002).
Article 4 Gantry crane manufacturer (hereinafter referred to as "manufacturer" shall provide the specimen machine conforming to the following requirements:
(i) consistent with the design pattern;
(ii) its safety protection devices requiring type tests in accordance with the requirements pass type tests; and
(iii) pass the self-inspection.
Where the specimen machine needs be subject to supervision inspection as required, the type tests shall be carried out upon passing the supervision inspection.
Article 5 In purpose of the type tests, the manufacturer shall provide at least the following technical documents of the specimen machine:
(I) Design documents, including general drawing, main stressed structural elements drawings, main parts drawings and related calculation data;
(II) Self-inspection report, product quality certificate; assembling, use and maintenance instructions;
(III) Type test conformity certificate of safety protection devices;
(IV) Records of inspection or conformity certificates for main stressed structural elements, main parts, operating mechanism, maneuvering mechanism, electrical and control systems;
(V) Quality inspection documents for the manufacturing process;
(VI) Check data of anti-rollover stability calculation of complete machine; and
(VII) Manufacturing supervision and inspection certificate (applicable to the ones that need be subject to manufacturing supervision and inspection).
The general drawing, main stressed structural elements drawings and main parts drawings of the specimen machine shall be jointly signed by the manufacturer, the supervision agency and type test agency, and kept by the manufacturer; only the main stressed structural elements drawings and main parts drawings are kept by the supervision agency and the type test agency.
Article 6 Type test is generally carried out at the dedicated test site or the manufacturer's premises. In special cases, it can be carried out at the site of use, but such site must meet the conditions required by the test.
Where the type test is carried out at the site of use, it shall be approved by the user and reported to the municipal quality and technical supervision department under the jurisdiction of the using unit's location.
Article 7 The conditions for type test shall meet the following requirements:
(I) Power source, ambient temperature, relative air humidity, sea-level altitude and wind speed in the testing site shall meet the requirements of standard and design;
(II) The test load error shall be within ±1%;
(III) The testing site environment shall be kept clear of flammable, explosive and corrosive gases; safety warning line shall be arranged around the site and the safety management measures shall be taken within the site;
(IV) The measurement on gantry crane and others shall be carried out indoors or at a place free from effect of sunlight and temperature differential;
(V) The ground for test shall be solid and horizontal and its slope shall not be greater than 1%; the mounting of crane tracks shall meet the requirements of GB 10183 and its design.
