Protective clothing—Performance requirements of chemical protective clothing
1 Scope
This standard specifies classification by type and class, and labeling, and establishes the basic technical requirements and test methods for chemical protective clothing.
This standard applies to chemical protective clothing required by operating personnel in workplaces and emergency rescue work.
This standard is not applicable to chemical protective clothing used in fire fighting and other applications.
This standard does not address performance requirements for personal protective equipment such as gloves, protective boots/shoes, face masks, sight windows, eye protection and respiratory devices, unless they are an integral part of the protective clothing and provide corresponding chemical protective performance.
Note: The protection objects covered by this standard include gaseous, liquid and solid chemicals. For the purposes of this standard, chemical protective clothing is classified based on the application and protection object, and basic requirements and test methods for the performance of protective clothing at various levels are specified.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
chemical protective clothing
clothing worn to protect the body against chemicals
Note: These garments may cover the whole, or greater part of the body, i.e. trunk, arms and legs. A chemical protective suit can consist of garments combined together to provide protection to the body. A suit can also have various types of additional protection.
3.2
fully encapsulated clothing
clothing that can completely cover the wearer and respiratory equipment and can provide airtight and/or liquid-tight protection
3.3
non-encapsulated clothing
clothing that protects greater part of the body, including at least trunk, arms and legs It is unnecessary to cover the respiratory equipment used by the wearer. It includes one-piece coveralls or two-piece suits.
3.4
limited use protective clothing
protective clothing that has low requirements imposed on the strength and abrasion resistance of clothing materials and can be used only once or for a limited number of times until it is contaminated
3.5
reusable protective clothing
protective clothing that has high requirements imposed on the strength and abrasion resistance of clothing materials, and once used, can still provide effective protection after necessary decontamination treatment and qualification
3.6
emergency response team
ET
type of chemical protective clothing required by operating personnel in emergency rescue work
3.7
gas-tight protective ensembles for emergency response team
type of one-piece chemical protective clothing with hoods, sight windows and hand and foot protection required by operating personnel in emergency rescue work, which provides the wearer with protection against gaseous, liquid and solid toxic and harmful chemicals
Note 1: Gas-tight protective ensembles for emergency response team shall be equipped with self-contained breathing apparatus or long-tube breathing apparatus.
Note 2: Gas-tight protective ensembles for emergency response team shall meet the requirements of air tightness test.
3.8
non-gas-tight protective ensembles for emergency response team
type of one-piece chemical protective clothing with hoods, sight windows and hand and foot protection required by operating personnel in emergency rescue work, which provides the wearer with protection against liquid and solid toxic and harmful chemicals
Note: Non-gas-tight protective ensembles for emergency response team shall be equipped with self-contained breathing apparatus or long-tube breathing apparatus.
