This standard specifies terms and definitions, safety requirements, test methods, instructions for use and markings for petrol (diesel) engine-powered pedestrian-controlled lawnmowers (hereinafter named “lawnmower”).
Annex A identifies the significant hazards covered by this standard that require actions to eliminate or reduce the risk.
This standard also applies to corresponding components of pedestrian-controlled lawnmowers powered by other combustion engines, as well as sulky lawnmowers excluding the sulky attachments.
This standard does not apply to ride-on lawnmowers, or to lawnmowers, the cutting element of which is non-metallic flexible wire or free-centered non-metallic cutter having a cutting energy (kinetic energy) for each single cutting element of 10 J or more.
