Article 1.0.1 This standard was formulated in order to make the design of architectural stairs speed up the construction pace and increase the efficiency and quality of stair's production, installation and construction via modular coordination under the premise of meeting the use.
Article 1.0.2 This standard is applicable to the stairs composed of rectangular steps for pedestrian passing and safe evacuation in the urban residential buildings, public buildings and general industrial buildings. The rural buildings may be implemented by making reference thereto.
This standard is not applicable to the operating stairs on operating platform as well as the maintenance stairs or fire-escape stairs.

Article 1.0.3 The design of architectural stairs not only shall comply with the requirements specified in this standard, but also shall be in accordance with those specified in the relevant current national standards and codes.
