This standard specifies the terms and definitions, technical requirements, test methods, dimensions and tolerances, inspection rules and quality certificate of ductile iron pipes, fittings and accessories for water or gas applications cast by any type of foundry process or manufactured by fabrication of cast components, as well as corresponding joints; it also specifies the type test requirements for joint components.
This standard is applicable to pipes, fittings and accessories which are manufactured with socketed, flanged or spigot ends and normally delivered internally and externally coated. The range of joint dimension is nominal size DN40~DN2600, and the fluid temperature is 0~50℃.
- To convey water of different types (raw water, treated water and recycle water) and for various purposes (potable water, fire water, snow-making water, irrigation water and hydropower station water);
- Operated with or without pressure;
- Installed below or above ground;
- To convey gas with design pressure of Grade A medium pressure and below (e.g. manufactured gas, natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas).
This standard is not applicable to the fluid under subfreezing temperature (relatively high temperature application of the product is not excluded) and the area under the effect of fire regulation.
Pipes and fittings are classified according to the wall thickness grade coefficient K or the allowable operating pressure C.
Note: in this standard, all pressures are relative pressures expressed in MPa.
