This standard specifies methods for measuring the thickness, width and length, as well as the squareness, edge straightness and flatness of wood-based panels.
This standard is applicable to full-size flat panels.
2 Normative References
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments(excluding corrections), or revisions, of any of these publications do not apply to this standard. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies.
GB/T 17657 Test Methods of Evaluating the Properties of Wood-based Panels and Surface Decorated Wood-based Panels
3 Principle
The thickness, length and width of full-size panels are determined by linear measurement.
Squareness and edge straightness of full-size panels are determined by the measurement of deviation from a mechanical square or straight edge.
Flatness is determined by measuring the deviation of the panel surface from a taut string wire placed across the whole surface and against the edge of the panel.
4 Sampling
As batch inspection of finished boards, sampling shall be carried out according to the relevant requirements specified in the individual product standard of wood-based panels.
5 Moisture Content at Time of Measurement
Normally the dimensions of panels are measured in the as-received state.
