This standard specifies the measurement conditions and methods for the acoustic power and field characteristic parameters of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) in water within the frequency range of 0.5MHz~5MHz.
This standard is applicable to the HIFU system.
Note 1: International system of units (SI) is adopted in this standard. However, it may be more convenient to use other units in some parameter descriptions, such as beam area and acoustic intensity parameters. For example, the unit of beam area can be cm2, and that of sound intensity can be W/cm2 or kW/cm2.
Note 2: The measurement scope specified in this standard is as follows: power not more than 500W and acoustic intensity not more than 5,000W/cm2.
2 Normative references
The following documents provisions which, through reference in this standard, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) to, or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply. However parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent edition of the normative document indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document applies.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this standard, the terms and definitions defined in GB/T 3947-1996 and the following apply.
3.1
high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU)
ultrasonic wave converging the ultrasonic beam into a narrow area in the medium to produce an acoustic intensity high enough to cause severe physical, chemical and biological effects, etc., by means of acoustic method, electronic method, etc.
