1 Scope
1.1 GB/T 20801 "Pressure Piping Code - Industrial Piping" specifies the basic requirements for design, fabrication, erection, inspection, and safeguarding of industrial metal pressure piping.
1.2 This Part specifies the basic requirements in application scope and classification of pressure piping.
1.3 The industrial metal pressure piping (hereinafter referred to as "pressure piping") this Part applies includes ones in processing equipment, ancillary equipment, and public works within battery limit.
1.3.1 This Part is applicable to the design and construction of "pressure piping" "Regulations on Safety Supervision for Special" Equipment applies. The "pressure piping" specified in this part refers to pipes with the nominal diameter larger than 25mm, which is used for gas and vapor media with the maximum working pressure is greater than or equal to 0.1 MPa, or combustible, explosive, noxious and corrosive liquid media with the maximum working temperature is higher or equal to the normal boiling point.
1.3.2 This part is also applicable to the design and fabrication of fluid pressure piping which nominal diameter is close to or equal to 25mm and the maximum working pressure is under 0.1 MPa, or vacuum, noncombustible, innoxious and non-corrosive fluid pressure piping.
1.4 This part is not applicable to:
a) Piping with the nominal pressure higher than PN420;
b) Piping for military equipment or nuclear facility;
c) Piping for prospecting and excavation felicities of petroleum, natural gas and geothermal heat;
d) Piping for offshore facility or coal mine pit;
e) Piping special to electrical or telecommunication felicities;
f) Pressure piping for mobile equipments like rail engine, automobile, vessel, aeri-/ space-craft;
g) Piping for urban public utility;
h) Long-distance (oil / gas) piping and oil / gas field gathering piping;
i) Internal piping or equipment external piping orifice for prototype equipment (like pump and compressor), or other liquid delivery or processing equipment;
j) Professional piping for heating and ventilation;
k) Special pressure piping, like diversion piping and headrace, for hydraulic power plant; or
l) Power piping.
1.5 This part doesn't cover the requirements in-service pressure piping, examination, inspection, test, maintenance and repairing.
