This standard specifies the salt mist test method of basic environmental test for the electric and electronic products.
This standard is applicable to assess the anti-salt mist corrosion capacity of materials and their protective layers, compare the process quality of similar protective layer and assess the anti-salt mist corrosion capacity of certain products.
This standard is not applicable to general-purpose corrosion test method.

3 Requirements for Test Equipment
3.1 Material for test equipment must be able to resist salt mist corrosion and shall not affect the test result.
3.2 The working space conditions of the test equipment shall be within the limit specified in Chapter 5 of this standard.
3.3 Large enough capacity and uniform test conditions shall be available and these conditions shall be free from the influence of the test specimen.
3.4 The salt mist shall not be directly injected to the test specimen.
3.5 Condensed fluid from top and inner wall of test equipment working space and other parts shall not drip onto the test specimen.
3.6 The internal and external air pressure of test equipment must keep in balance.
