It provides a kind of standard method for determining specimen bearing specified severity shock capacity.
2 General Description
This standard is compiled according to specified pulse waveform the guidance for selecting and using these pulse waveforms is detailed in Annex A. The characteristics of various different pulse waveforms are discussed in Annex B. This standard includes three kinds of pulse waveforms, namely half-sinusoid pulse, postpeak sawtooth pulse and trapezoidal pulse. The selection of pulse waveforms depends on many factors, and such selection is a difficult thing, thus, this standard does not give the waveform priority (A3).
This test is aimed to disclose mechanical weakness and (or) performance degradation and determine whether specimen may be accepted by utilizing this information and combining the relevant specification. In some cases, this shock test may also be adopted to determine specimen structure integrity or as a means of quality control (A2).
This test is primarily intended for non-packed specimens and specimens that their packing is a part of the product under transportation condition.
Shock of this standard is not to simulate actually subjected shock. If possible, test severity and shock pulse waveform on specimens shall be capable of simulating actual transportation and work environment effect to be subjected by specimens. Or, if the test is aimed to evaluate structure integrity, the design requirements shall be met (A2 and A4).
During the conditional test, the specimen shall be directly fastened to the table board or fastened to the table board by fixture.
For the convenience of application, the text part of this standard lists clause and subclause number to be quoted by Annex A, and Annex A also lists the clauses and subclause number of the text.
This standard shall be used by combining GB 2421-89 "Basic Environmental Testing Procedures for Electric and Electronic Products-General and Guidance".
