1 Scope
This standard specifies the test methods for trivalent chromium electroplating solution and the technical requirements for trivalent chromium plating. It also specifies the inspection methods for trivalent chromium and verification methods for hexavalent chromium in trivalent chromium electroplating solution.
This standard is applicable to trivalent chromium electroplating chromium composite coating for decorative protective copper+nickel+ chromium and nickel+chromium electroplating.
Note: considering environmental factors, hexavalent chromium may cause high dense pollution to the environment. Human being or animals are very difficult to metabolize once they absorb hexavalent chromium. While the impacts form trivalent chromium is not as serious as hexavalent chromium and the process sludge is less. Trivalent chromium electroplating instead of hexavalent chromium electroplating may reduce the harm to the environment.
