This standard specifies the safety requirements of fuel cell stacks for fuel cell electric vehicles in terms of hydrogen safety, electrical safety and mechanical structure.
This standard is applicable to proton exchange membrane fuel cell stack for vehicles. This standard is only involved with hazards to the human body and the outside of fuel cell stacks, and not involved with protection of its inside, assuming that such internal damage won’t cause a hazard to the outside of fuel cell.

For the purpose of this standard, the terms and definitions specified in GB/T 24548 and GB/T 28816 as well as the following apply.
3.1
fuel cell stack for vehicle
fuel cell stack providing driving electrical energy for fuel cell electric vehicles
Note: this standard is applicable to proton exchange membrane fuel cell stack using hydrogen as fuel.
4 General
4.1 The fuel cell stack for vehicle (hereinafter referred to as "fuel cell stack") shall have a protective case to prevent its components from being exposed to the external high-temperature components or environment. The case of fuel cell stack shall be provided with structure not easily harmful to the human body.
4.2 Where the fuel cell stack contains flammable, explosive gases or harmful substances, it shall be clearly marked in the obvious position.
